Kata 1

Kata 1 - How do we work together in the Circle?

Your entry into digital collaboration

In the preparatory meeting, you have already started discussing your collaboration with your learning group. In this Kata, we present a structure for all digital collaborations: the Collaboration Canvas. The Collaboration Canvas is a framework for building group agreements and collaboration. Think of your learning circle as a collaboration group - how will you work together? ...communicate with each other? ...make decisions? ...share your knowledge? At the end of this learning journey, you will be able to use these tools with all your other working groups.

  • To prepare, read through the content in the chapter Basics: Collaboration.

  • Take a look at the Collaboration Canvas (see below). The canvas offers you the opportunity to record the new impulses and recommendations you have learned for implementation in your daily working life while working with the guidelines. Some topics (e.g. sharing documents) will be addressed in more detail during the course of the Circle.

The template is divided into six main areas: interaction, informal communication, professional communication, action, purpose, and documentation. Each area contains specific instructions or questions to promote collaboration and communication within a team.

  • Think about which cooperation agreements you already have. Which ones are important to you and why? Make a note of them.

If you want to do more:

  • Further information can be found here: Rules for cooperation

  • As a suggestion - take these rules of collaboration as an opportunity to develop your own collaboration canvas with your team.
After a month, you can conduct a retro with your team and share your experiences.
