Kata 8 - Working together on documents

In this Kata, which is based on our rules for collaboration, you take another step further by not only sharing documents with others, but by also developing them together. You and your group will create a concrete example of this: a collection of "the best hacks for digital collaboration".

Preparation (individual work)

  • Read the Kata "Working together on documents", (below) do the exercises.

Agenda (circle/group work)

  • Check-in: (10 minutes)
What has been on your mind this past week in relation to digital collaboration?
    Two-minute timebox per Circle member.

  • Main topic: (45 minutes)

    • Present your results and findings from "Kata 8 - Working together on documents" to each other and discuss them.
    • Use your shared collection of "the best hacks for digital collaboration" in the Circle meeting and think about a common structure. How did the asynchronous collaboration go?
    • Consider together whether rules in the canvas should be adapted or expanded,
if necessary, expand the Collaboration Canvas with your new findings and formulate your common rules of collaboration.
  • Check-out: (5 minutes)
What will you do before the next meeting?

Kata "Working together on documents"

  • Read through the basics in preparation. Working together on documents

  • Answer and reflect on the following questions:

    • Where is your collaboration canvas stored?

    • How did you work here?

    • How did the collaboration work?

    • Have you seen the changes made by the others?

    • How did it feel that everyone immediately saw what you had written?

    • Did it save time for the exchange?

    • Should the document be available and retrievable in the long term? What do you need to do?

  • As group, create a file in your shared digital workplace which you can work on asynchronously.

  • Individually, create contributions for the shared collection in this shared file.

  • Think about how you could work together asynchronously on documents in Circle and which tool you can use for this. In [How do I share documents in a chat? example M365 you can find inspiration for this

If you want to do more:

  • Continue to work together asynchronously:

    • You can add to the list in the next few weeks if you think of more hacks.

    • You can add comments to other people's hacks, e.g. if you particularly like something or if something is unclear.

    • Can you see who has added which points / track changes?

    • You can share the hacks with your network.
